Post Operative Rehabilitation

Post Operative Rehabilitation

After the operation the advice is often unclear about time scales and what you should be doing. Surgery is controlled trauma and as such pain and loss of function can continue for several weeks or months.

Our staff have extensive experience with patients post-operatively, having worked previously alongside consultants to rehabilitate patients at both NHS and private hospitals, with some still working with them now.

Getting a thorough examination to start recovery is essential. After the operation we often move differently in response to pain and weakness and these abnormal patterns are learned. Changing faulty movements and increasing your activity levels is a fundamental part of recovery.

Post operative conditions that we see include:

  • Total Hip Replacement
  • Total Knee Replacement
  • Fractures and Multiple Injuries
  • Back Surgery
  • Knee and Shoulder Ligament Repair including ACL reconstruction
  • Nerve Decompression
  • And Many Others.
