Hi I'm Bhanu and I qualified as a physiotherapist in 1988. I am currently working part-time as a private practitioner at Hallamshire Physiotherapy Ltd and at Sheffield Hallam University as Honorary Visiting Lecturer on neurological and professional post graduate courses, and as a researcher. I am also a qualified Fitness (gym) Instructor. I was awarded an OBE in 2016 and a PhD in 2017.
My main areas of clinical interest include elder rehabilitation and the treatment of neurological conditions including Stroke and Multiple sclerosis, but I am better known for my national and international work with people with Parkinson’s disease. I retain my input to Parkinson’s UK (formerly the Parkinson’s Disease Society) writing a column about activity for their quarterly magazine, co-authoring Fact Sheets plus conducts research into Parkinsonism. I continue to act as Project Officer for a clinical interest group of physiotherapists working with older people, through which forum I undertake Department of Health and other national projects as well as ensuring standards of good practice are disseminated to physiotherapists working with older adults.
