Chesterfield STROLLL® Project for Parkinsons Shows Outstanding Improvements for Pain Mobility and Confidence

Hallamshire Physiotherapy is delighted to share the results of the recent Chesterfield STROLLL® Project, where clients with Parkinsons taking part in weekly STROLLL sessions achieved significant improvements in mobility, balance, and everyday function — all within just seven weeks.

STROLLL is an innovative therapy approach designed to support people with neurological conditions by improving walking, coordination, and confidence through structured, engaging movement sessions. The Chesterfield project demonstrated just how impactful this can be.

Meaningful Improvements Across Key Areas

Participants showed measurable progress in several aspects of daily movement:

  • Strength & Mobility Clients were able to stand up from a chair five times 18% faster, making everyday sitting and standing easier.
  • Walking & Endurance Walking speed increased by 20%, helping people move more freely and confidently.
  • Multitasking While Moving The ability to walk while performing another task improved by 40%, reflecting better coordination and focus.
  • Balance & Confidence Single‑leg balance improved, and confidence in moving without falling rose by 20–30%.

Positive Experiences and Personal Milestones

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. 100% of respondents said they would recommend STROLLL to others, and many reported feeling stronger, more energetic, and more capable in daily life.

Several clients achieved personal breakthroughs, including:

  • One client who stopped using their stick for short outdoor walks
  • Another who ran for the first time in many years

Comments from the group described the programme as “extremely helpful,” “flexible,” and “brilliant all round.”

A Step Forward for Neurological Rehabilitation

The Chesterfield results highlight the potential of STROLLL to make everyday life easier and more manageable for people living with neurological conditions, particularly Parkinsons. The improvements seen in just seven weeks underline the value of incorporating structured, engaging movement therapy into rehabilitation.
