Hi, I’m Laura and I am excited to join Hallamshire Physiotherapy full-time as Clinic Manager for Neurological conditions since January 2025.
I graduated as a Physiotherapist from Sheffield Hallam University in 2008. I initially started my career as a rotational Physiotherapist in the NHS before specialising in Neurology in 2011. In 2020 I became a team leader and was responsible for a large team of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists delivering NHS neurological rehabilitation services in North-East Derbyshire and Chesterfield community. I recently completed a masters module on ‘Leading people and teams’ gaining a distinction.
My experience within neurology is extensive, working within community hospitals, outpatient clinics and in people’s homes. I am experienced in treating a wide range of neurological conditions including stroke, brain injuries, spinal injuries, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and Functional Neurological Disorder.
I have a specialist interest in Parkinson’s and completed PD Warrior training in 2017. This is when I began working for Hallamshire Physiotherapy alongside my NHS role, running PD Warrior classes in Chesterfield. These classes have grown in popularity and offer not only exercise, but a community of support and friendship.
I am trained in the use of Strolll headsets. Strolll headsets are augmented reality (AR) glasses that use digital therapeutics software to help people with neurological disorders improve their balance, walking, and reduce their risk of falling.
I am a Mum to two young boys who keep me very busy. I enjoy keeping active by going on family walks with our mini labradoodle dog. I have always been a keen sportswoman playing badminton, weight training at the gym and I am part of a running club. This drives my interest in rehabilitation and I am passionate about the benefits of exercise for both physical health and wellbeing.
