Hi I’m Ian, I qualified in 1999 from Sheffield Hallam University and started work at the Hallamshire Hospital as a rotational physiotherapist. In Following this I worked at Sheffield Children’s Hospital in an outpatient/orthopaedic setting.
Following this I started at Claremont Hospital where I worked for twelve years in orthopaedics and outpatients. I worked closely with all of the orthopaedic consultants in post operative rehabilitation, with considerable experience in more complicated shoulder rehabilitation. I developed the outpatient clinic, receiving consultant and GP referrals, some of which continue to date.
As well as this I worked with the professional Rapha Condor cycling team for pre-season preparation which was based at Claremont Hospital with a small consultant led specialist team.
Following Claremont, I started at Hallamshire Physiotherapy in 2014 as an outpatient physio treating a wide variety of orthopaedic and sports related conditions with a special interest in running and climbing related issues.
I have substantial experience treating chronic pain patients, which requires a more specialist approach as it can be multi-factoral in cause. I pride myself on both evidence based treatment as well as movement analysis and altering patterns of movement, in order to maximise function in both acute and chronic issues as well as for the sportsperson.
I am a very keen fell runner with a successful Bob Graham round and numerous long distance events and races over the years. I am a regular mountaineer and experienced in both summer and winter climbing. These sports drive my interest in rehabilitating injuries as I fully understand the frustration they can cause.
